All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Donna Bluemink dbluemin@cox.net July 11, 2017, 11:42 pm Virginian-Pilot, November 14, 1957 NORFOLK - Samuel Stamm, 72, husband of Mrs. Ida Stamm and son of Rabbi Moishe Leib Stamm and Mrs. Esther Stamm, died at a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 7 a.m. He was a native of Latvia, and a resident of Norfolk for the past 50 years, residing at 900 Shirley Ave., at the time of his death. He was a member of the United Orthodox Synagogue and the Zionist Organization. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Esther Stark of Norfolk, Mrs. Judith Schiller of New Jersey, and Mrs. Hadassah Horenstein of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Morris Lesser of Norfolk, and three other sister, of Europe. The body was taken from H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts to the United Orthodox Synagogue for services yesterday at 3:30 p.m., conducted by Rabbi Joseph Schecter, and Rabbi Israel Bornstein. Burial was in Khal Chesidim (B'Nai Israel) Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Louis Savage, Sidney Siegel, Morris Kahn, Meyer Korel, Dr. Louis Friedman, the Rev. Ben Martin, the Rev. Simon Kleishlatt, Eugene Glassman, Nathan Weisberg, Sholom Steinback and Herman Rosenblatt. Active pallbearers were Harry Kaplan Sam Nathan, Hyman Frieden, Reuben Raskin, Joseph Klein, Harry Legum, C. H. Fine, Sol Gutterman and Sam Frieden.
