A native of Washington, N.C., she was the widow of James Stancell and a member of St. Stevens Church of Christ Holy Disciples, Norfolk. Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Stancell Worsley of Richmond, Va.; three sons, John R. Hill of Portsmouth, Charles Morris of Chesapeake and William Downing of Norfolk; four sisters, Bertha M. Knowlton of Chesapeake, Lillian Hardee of Norfolk, Mavis Dudley and Bobby Dudley, both of Washington, N.C.; three brothers, Linwood E. Dudley, John A. Dudley and William Dudley, all of Washington, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. A funeral will be held Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in Smyrna Church of Christ Holy Disciples, 741 Marshall Ave., Norfolk, by Pastor Charles Thurston Knowlton with burial in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Thursday where viewing will begin. Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is handling arrangements.
