Norfolk Virginian Pilot October 22, 1947

George P. Stanfield, 76, son of the late Poser and Mrs. Martha Davis Stanfield, 
died yesterday at 6:10 a.m. at a local hospital. A native of Americus, Ga., he 
had been a resident of Norfolk for he past 40 years, residing at 515 Raleigh 
Avenue at the time of his death. Surviving are one brother, Julius J. Stanfield, 
of Oyster Bay, N.Y.; one sister, Mrs. P.M. Brooks, of Jacksonville, Fla. and 
several nieces. 
The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church, of which he was a member, for services tomorrow at 10 a.m. 
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the 
Oliver Funeral Apartments Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
