Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark July 28, 1933

Mrs. Emily Savannah Stant, aged 76, widow of J.T. Stant, died at her residence, 
304 West Fifteenth Street, yesterday morning at 10:05 o'clock after a long 
illness. She was the daughter of the late George and Mrs. Catherine H. Riley, a 
native of Accomack County and a resident of Norfolk for 32 years. Surviving her 
are three daughters, Mrs. S.J. Mister, Mrs. B.T. Backus, and Mrs. A.G. Backus; 
three sons, F.T., C.W. and W.B. Stant, of Norfolk and one sister, Mrs. E.B. 
Robbins of Norfolk and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock from the 
residence. The Rev. J.S. Gresham, pastor of Colonial Avenue Methodist Church, 
will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
