Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark January 28, 1935

Mrs. Mary Lawler Staples, aged 66, wife of Bert I. Staples, died suddenly at her 
residence at London Bridge, Princess Anne County, yesterday morning at 11 
o'clock. Mrs. Staples was a native of Cincinnati, a former resident of Roanoke, 
and resident of this section for the past 29 years. Besides her husband, she is 
survived by three daughters, Mrs. C.G. Haesloop, of New Hampshire; Mrs. Hunter 
Phelps, of Norfolk and Mrs. B. R. Morton, of Detroit; a son, E.L. Staples, of 
San Diego, Cal.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body will 
be taken from H.D Oliver's Funeral Apartments, 610-12 East Freemason Street, to 
Sacred Heart Catholic Church for services Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. 
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

County, Va., Sunday, January 27th, 1935, at 11 o’clock a.m., MARY LAWLER, wife 
of Bert I. Staples, in the 67th year of her age.
Remains will be taken from H. D. Oliver’s Funeral Apartments, Nos. 610-612 East 
Freemason street, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for services WEDNESDAY MORNING 
at 10 o’clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, St. 
Mary’s Cemetery.
