Norfolk Virginian Pilot Saturday November 8, 1952
Miss Hattie Agusta Staples, daughter of the late William S. and Sophrona Smoot 
Staples, died at the residence of her brother, Lee A. Staples, 801 Forbes 
Street, yesterday at 7:45 p.m.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. W.R. Sivills, of Norfolk and Mrs. Herbert 
M. Gibson, of Radford; four brothers, Lee A., S.M. and F.E. Staples, all of 
Norfolk and W.S. Staples, of Petersburg and several nieces and nephews.
Miss Staples was a native of Concord and had been a resident of Norfolk for a 
number of years.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Monday at 
3 p.m. by the Rev. Paul G. Wiley, pastor of the Spurgeon Memorial Baptist 
Church, of which Miss Staples was a member.  Burial will be in Forest Lawn 
Cemetery.
