Virginian-Pilot  January 22, 1928
Mrs. Theresa Brown Stapleton, aged 65, widow of Lawrence Stapleton, died suddenly 
at 10 o’clock yesterday morning at the residence, 1446 Westover avenue. Mrs. 
Stapleton was a native of County Antrim, Ireland, but had been a resident of 
Norfolk for 40 years. Surviving her are two sons, Thomas L. and James E. 
Stapleton; one daughter, Miss Mary E. Stapleton, all of Norfolk; three sisters, 
Mrs. Annie Sweeney and Mrs. Thomas F. Ralston, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Ellen Sharp, 
of Ireland, and three brothers, Edward and John Brown, of Ireland, and William J. 
Brown, of Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church tomorrow afternoon 
at 3 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
