Stark, wife of W.D. Stark, died last evening at 9:40 o'clock after a lingering illness lasting one half of her life. She was 62 years old. 31 years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis and never regained her health. She was at times able to go about but was never well. She was a native of Smithfield, Va., but spent the major part of her life in Norfolk. She was a sister of the late Mrs. W.H. French and was well known and respected. In addition to her husband she is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Geo. Y. Old and Mrs. L.M. Lewis. She was a member of Memorial M.E. Church, Berkley ward. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. *************************************************************** The funeral of the late Mrs. Cassie V. Starke, wife of W.D. Starke, who died at the home of her brother-in-law, Capt. W.H. French, in Pearl street, will be conducted from Memorial M.E. Church, this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Dr. W. W. Lear, pastor of the above church, will officiate and the interment will be in Magnolia cemetery. The deceased during her life time was a persistent worker for the good in her community. She was identified with a great many philanthropic movements and was the founder of the Girls' Society in the Chestnut Street Methodist Church, which later became the Memorial Church.
