Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, December 11, 1992 
John P. Steele, 70, of the 500 block of Henderson St., a retired heavy vehicle
operator, died Dec. 8, 1992, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mr. Steele was born in Rock Hill, S.C. He had retired from the Public Works
Center at the Norfolk Naval Base in 1978 after 34 years. He was a member of St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Norfolk and Cavalier Manor Civic League. He was an
Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Isadore B. Steele; four sons, Vincent Brown of
Portsmouth, John F. Steele of Baltimore, Ronald W. Steele of Chesapeake and
Veldon R. Steele of Northford, Conn.; 12 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Chruch by
the Rev. Charles Saglio. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will be
at Fisher Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. today and other times at the residence.
