Mr. Steele fell dead on an upper porch of his home yesterday morning at 9:25 o'clock, and was found soon after by his wife. Up to the time of his death he was apparently in good health. He was 62 years of age. He had been a resident of Berkley for the past 18 years, and had many warm friends. He was a native of North Carolina. By trade, he was a carpenter. Mr. Steele was a member of First Christian Church, and of the following fraternal organizations: Berkley Ruling 1911, Fraternal Mystic Circle; Tidewater Council No. 30, Jr. O.U.A.M.; Chesapeake Tent No. 11, Knights of the Maccabees of the World. Beside a wife, Mrs. Elizabeth P. Steel, he leaves eight children, as follows: J.T. Steele, James E. Steele. William A. Steele, C.O. Steele, H.A. Steele, E.L. Steele, H.E. Steele, and Mrs. S.O. Gordon, all of this city; one sister, Mrs. E. Bizell.
