George Steele - Funeral services for Mr. Steele, whose death occurred Sunday
morning at the residence, 858 West Thirty-eighth street, were held at H. D.
Oliver’s Funeral Apartments, 610-612 East Freemason street, yesterday afternoon
at 2 o’clock, with the Rev. J. O. Schmidhauser, of Blessed Sacrament Catholic
Church, officiating.  There was a large attendance and many floral offerings.  A
delegation from Norfolk Lodge No. 38, B. P. O. Elks, was in attendance and
conducted ritual services at the grave.  Interment was in “Elk Rest,” Elmwood
Cemetery.  The pallbearers were J. Dozier, Michael Boylan, James Stewart,
William Hall, William Timberlake, M. J. Holland, Cornelius Downing, and E. C.
Wilson.  The casket was covered with a double cluster of Easter lilies, dahlias
and fern.
