Steffen, 82, of the 3300 block of Bruin Drive, passed away June 3, 2007, in Bon Secours Maryview Nursing Care Center. A native of Lackawanna, N.Y., he was the son of the late George and Margaret Steffen. He retired from the United States Navy and also from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, a Naval veteran of World War II and belonged to the Fleet Reserve. He is survived by his wife, Margaret O'Malley Steffen of Chesapeake; five children, Sheila Cross and husband Jerry of Virginia Beach, Georgia Steffen of Point of Rocks, Md., Maureen Harman and husband William of Chesapeake, Margaret Mucciola and husband Robert of Windber, Pa., and George Steffen and wife Ashley of Chesapeake; six grandchildren, Matthew Peppers of Portsmouth, O'Malley Brandt of Chesapeake, Nicole Mucciola of Philadelphia, Michael Mucciola of Windber and Kylie and Bridget Steffen, both of Chesapeake; and a sister, Charlotte Bernard of Arcade, N.Y. She was predeceased by a grandson, Terry Peppers; and a sister, Emily Roser. A funeral Mass will be conducted today at 7 p.m. in Church of the Resurrection. The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the service. Entombment, with full military honors, will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
