Norfolk - Mrs. Marie Brown Stephens of 1623 Delevan street died in  her home 
after a short illness.

A native of Marion, SC, she was the wife of Alfred T. Stephens Sr., and a 
daughter of the late Perry and Mrs. Della Johnson.

She was a Baptist.

Besides her husband, surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Corrine Tate of Roanoke,  
Mrs. Ernestine Mitchell, Mrs. Ivey Jackson, and Mrs. Ethel House of Norfolk, and 
Mrs. Alma Eley of Windsor,  three sons, Langhorne E. Brown, Alfred T. Stephens 
Jr., and Lewis S. Stephens of Norfolk;  a sister, Mrs. Rosa Wilson of Lockport, 
NY;  and 25 grandchildren.

A funeral service was held in St. Paul Church of God in Christ, Campostella, by 
Elder Wilbert Daniel.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Metropolitan Funeral 
Home in charge.
