Norfolk Virginian Pilot Sunday October 14, 1945
Mrs. Lucy Godfrey Stephens, 70, of 1703 DeBree Avenue, died yesterday at 8 
a.m. at a Norfolk hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Stephens was a native of Princess Anne County and had lived in Norfolk 
nearly all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Anderson A. and 
Lucy Dyer Godfrey, and was a member of Christ and St. Luke’s Episcopal 
Church here. 
Surviving her are a daughter, Mrs. Ernest E. Messick; a son A. Dalton 
Stephens; a sister, Mrs. Mary I. Fountain; four grandchildren, and three 
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home 
tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
