Ernest Leon "BusHead" Stepney of the 2800 block of Bayne Ave. died March 12,
2004, at the University of Iowa Hospital.

Born in Norfolk, he was in sales/marketing and was a former member of First
Baptist Church Bute Street. He was an elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints in Iowa.

Survivors include his mother, Christine Stepney of Norfolk; two sisters, Linda
Stepney McCoy and husband Horace of Naperville, Ill., LaFreda Stepney Smith of
Stafford; a brother, Walter Darryl Stepney of Norfolk; his partner in life for
many years, Julie Mellecker; aunts, Willie Mae Smith of Virginia Beach and
Vivian Stepney of Norfolk; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was
predeceased by his father, Ernest L. Stepney .

A funeral will be held at noon Wednesday in St. Andrews COGIC by Bishop Anthony
Earl Moses with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The remains will be ready for
viewing Tuesday from 3:30 to 8 p.m. The family will assemble at the residence at
11 a.m. for the procession. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk chapel, is in
