Stepney Sr., 30, of 505 Tidewater drive, who sang in the choir at the church. The Air Force veteran, former professional boxer, recreation and Housing Authority worker died Monday at the Kecoughtan Veterans Hospital. A graduate of Booker t. Washington High School and for three years a student at Virginia State College’s Norfolk division, he was a professional boxer in New York for a year and gave boxing exhibitions in the Norfolk area. The Rev. E. Paul Simms will deliver Mr. Stepney’s eulogy, and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under direction of the Morning Glory Funeral Home. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Stepney; his wife, Mrs. Christine Stepney; three sons, Ivan, Daryl and Ernest Stepney Jr.; three daughters, Linda, LaFreda and Deborah Stepney; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Smith and Miss Bernice Stepney; and a brother, Sylvester Stepney Jr., all of Norfolk.
