Walter D. Steptoe, 80, died Friday afternoon at his late residence, 837 Windsor
avenue, after a long illness.

He was the son of Green Steptoe and Mrs. Cinderella Steptoe.

He retired from the local post office as a letter carrier after a period of 25
years. He was a member of Excelsior Lodge of F. and A. Masons, Hiawatha Social
and Beneficial Association.

He served as a steward of St. John AME Church for a number of years and was
active in Sunday school for many years.

He is survived by Mrs. Kathryn B. Bibbins, niece, Mr. Allen Brown, nephew and
Mrs. Helen H. Turner,stepdaughter. Funeral services were held at St. John AME
Church on Sunday, with the Rev. W. L. Hildebrand officiating. Burial was in
Calvary Cemetery under the direction of King Funeral Home.
