STERLING Retired Post Office Employe Dies at Hospital After Long Illness Joseph Clark Sterling, 75, widely known resident, who was employed at the Post Office for more than 30 years until his retirement several years ago, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 1:25 o'clock after a long illness. A native of Baltimore and a resident of Norfolk for 50 years, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mrs. Mary Clark Sterling. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jessie E. Sterling; two sons, Joseph M. Sterling and James Fred Sterling; three grandchildren, Joseph M., Jr., James W. and Miss Catherine Sterling, all of Norfolk. Mr. Sterling resided at 301 West Thirtieth street. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock in the James V. Derry Funeral Chapel, 1920 Colley Avenue, corner Harrington. The Rev. B.M. Persinger, D.D., pastor of Epworth Methodist Church, of which Mr. Sterling was a member, will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
