Stermer, 82, of the 4500 block of Princess Anne Road, died July 13, 1999. Born in Petersburg, Va., she was a homemaker and the widow of Robert L. Stermer Sr. She was a member of Third Order of Carmelites; Legion of Mary; Christ Child Society; Daughters of Isabella; and Altar Society. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Community of Tidewater and the last surviving member of the Smallwood Family of Baltimore, Md. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Barrett, of Virginia Beach; three sons, Robert L. Stermer Jr., of Williamsburg, Thomas W. Stermer, of Boca Raton, Fla., and Charles S. Stermer, of Iceland; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, David E. Stermer. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
