Norfolk Virginian Saturday October 28, 1893

The funeral of Mr. John B. Stevens, who died at his residence, corner of 
Chapel and Calvert streets, Thursday evening, aged 63 years, took place 
yesterday evening from the house and was conducted by Rev. E.H. Rawlings, of 
Centenary M.E. Church.  The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was taken with a congestive chill Wednesday and his death was the immediate 
result of heart failure.  He was for some years in the fish business and 
lately ran a store near his residence.
