Mr. Stevens was born in Detroit, Mich. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign War 3106, Disabled American Veterans chapter Four and the Fleet Reserve Association. Survivors include his wife, Margaret P. Stevens; three daughters, Lillian A. Matt, of Chesapeake and Mildred T. Palmer, and Florence A. James, both of Norfolk; six sons, John A. Matt, Steven D. Stevens, and Walter J. Matt, all of Norfolk and Chester P. Crowe, and Chauncey D. Stevens III, both of Chesapeake and Raymond C. Stevens, of Virginia Beach; and 13 grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Christ the King Catholic Church by the Rev. Joe Lehman. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norview Chapel. Friends may join the family at the residence.
