Norfolk - William R. Stewart, Jr., the husband of Mrs. Elsie B. Stewart of 1302 
Bolton Street, died Sunday, June 12, in a hospital.

A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late William Enos Stewart and Mabel 
Newby Stewart. He retired from Norfolk Naval Base after 32 years and was a 
member of First Baptist Church, Bute Street.

Survivors include four sons, Milton L. Stewart, William Stewart III, Michael W. 
Stewart and Jerry A. Stewart, all of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara McClean 
of Norfolk and Mrs. Esther Lorraine Artis, of Conway, NC, and a brother, Robert 
L. Stewart of Norfolk, and five grandchildren.

A funeral service was held June 15 in Mt. Olive Baptist Church by Rev. Roland A. 
Tisdale. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Jones Funeral Home had charge.
