She was a native of Henderson, N.C., and the daughter of the late James and Maggie Snead Glover. Mrs. Stinson retired from the Commander Naval Surface Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet after 26 years of service. She was also a real estate salesperson for several years. She was a member of Basilica of St. Mary's of the Immaculate Conception and the Women's Club of the church. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Barbara J. Hudgins and Doris S. Swain and husband Joe; a son, David L. Stinson III; a daughter-in-law, Joyce C. Stinson; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her former husband, David L. Stinson Jr. A funeral will be held at noon Thursday in Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 232 Chapel, with Father John J. Dorgan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Riddick Funeral Service where a Christian wake will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The family will be at 1804 Hoover Ave., Chesapeake, in the home of her daughter, Barbara J. Hudgins.
