The Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark May 1, 1931
Miss Sarah Lawrence Stokes, aged 83, died at her residence, 27 Warren crescent 
last night at 7:30 o'clock. She was a native of Oswego, N.Y. and a resident of 
Norfolk for the past 23 years. She is survived by one brother, George Hughes 
Stokes, and one niece, Mrs. J.H. Ketner, both of this city. Funeral 
arrangements will be announced later.
