Norfolk Virginian Pilot April 15, 1952
Mrs. Ellen Etheridge Stokes, 77, of Norfolk County, died in a Norfolk hospital 
yesterday at 3:45 p.m. after a short illness.
A lifelong resident of Norfolk County, she was the daughter of Luther and India 
Etheridge and the widow of Leonard Stokes.  She is a member of the Oak Grove 
Methodist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Malcolm Shipp, of Norfolk County; two sons, 
Edward L. Stokes and Leonard W. Stokes, both of Norfolk; three brothers, F.F. 
Etheridge, of Ocean View; J.M. Etheridge, of Oak Grove and W.V. Etheridge, of 
Washington and two granddaughters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stokes will be conducted at the Graham Funeral Home, 
South Norfolk, tomorrow 2 p.m.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
