April 9, 1883 Interment of Mrs. Stubbs-The remains of Mrs. S.S. Stubbs, relict of the late Simon S. Stubbs, a former prominent citizen of Norfolk, arrived here yesterday by the Baltimore steamer Carolina, from Centreville, Md., where she died a few days ago, and where the funeral was conducted. The remains were met at the boat by a number of friends and conveyed to Elmwood Cemetery, where the last rites of the church were said by Rev. Joseph H. Riddick, pastor of the Cumberland Street M.E. Church, of which she had for many years been a member. The following well-known citizens acted as pall-bearers: Messrs. William H. Fletcher, Jacob Vickery, and Joseph C. Norsworthy.
