The Rev. William Tyree officiated. Mr. Sumler of 214 Poplar avenue was the husband of Mrs. Lucille Sumler and a son of the late John O. and Mrs. Clara Jackson Sumler. The Norfolk native was a retired manager of Sumler's Cleaners and a member of the Beacon Light Civic League. Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers, William Henry Sumler of St. Albans N.Y. and Arthur Sumler of Norfolk; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Hill of the Bronx, N.Y. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Chatman Funeral Home in charge.
