The Virginian Pilot Tuesday December 20, 1960 
Mrs. Anne Grandy Summers, 86, widow of Robert E. Summers and daughter of the 
late Joseph B. and Mrs. Occa Forbes Grandy, died in a Norfolk hospital 
Monday at 6:25 p.m.
She is survived by a son, W. Gayle Summers of Norfolk; a brother, George B. 
Grandy of Shawboro, N.C.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. 
Mrs. Summers was a native of Shawboro, N.C. and had lived in Norfolk 66 
years, residing at 400 New York Ave. She was a member of Park Place Baptist 
Church, the T.E.L. Class and the Woman’s Missionary Society. Her husband and 
her son, the late Ezra T. Summers, both served on the city council.
A funeral service will be held in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Wednesday at 
11 a.m. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
