Mrs. Sumner was the daughter of the late Walter and Mrs. Henrietta Sparrow Shipley, a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Daughters of the King and Mothers' Mission of St. Paul's and Silver Stream Council 18, Degree of Pocahontas. In addition to her husband, George S. Sumner, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. R.K. Spry, Sr. and Mrs. J.L. Grimes and a brother, James E. Shipley, all of Norfolk. The body was taken from the funeral home of E. Lee Cox & Bro., 631 Westover avenue, to the residence yesterday afternoon. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Paul's Episcopal Church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Vincent C. Franks, D.D., rector of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
