Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, May 9, 1997 
Marie Corprew Sumner, 92, of the 1300 block of MacDonald Road died May 7, 1997.

A native of Princess Anne County, she was the widow of Dempsey Sumner Jr. and a
member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Norfolk, the deaconess board and missionary
board. She was a member of Bowling Green Senior Citizens Flower Club and League.

Survivors include her two daughters, Francis Nightingale of Virginia Beach and
Gloria Hodges of Chesapeake; two sons, Dempsey Sumner of Norfolk and Wilbur
Sumner of Union Dale, N.Y.; two sisters, Annie Brinkley of Virginia Beach and
Eugenia Joyner of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a
brother-in-law, Ervin Brinkley of Virginia Beach; and a host of other relatives
and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Shiloh Baptist Church, Norfolk,
by the Rev. John H. Foster. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Ms. Sumner will
be at the church for viewing at 10 a.m. Saturday before the funeral. The family
will be at 1114 Merrimac Ave., Norfolk. Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel,
is in charge.
