He was a faithful member of The United House of Prayer in Portsmouth. He was a longtime employee of TRT transit. He is survived by a loving and devoted wife, Joan Sunkins; five sons, Willie Rountree of Virginia Beach, Isaac Sunkins of Savannah, Ga., Ronald and Robert Sunkins, both of Norfolk, and Rodney Clyburn of Charlotte, N.C.; five daughters, Roberta Pervis, Diane Sunkins, Elizabeth Sunkins, Cora Lee Sunkins and Juanita Sunkins, all of Norfolk; two daughters-in-law, Nadine Rountree of Virginia Beach and Samantha Sunkins of Savannah; six brothers, Roland Sunkins Jr. of Winnsboro, S.C., James Sunkins of Portsmouth, Edward Sunkins of South Carolina, Isaiah Sunkins of Virginia Beach, Charles Sunkins of Greenwood, S.C., and Willie Sunkins of Newport News; four sisters, Olivia Posey of New York, Gloria Fletcher of Washington, D.C., Lucinda Denny of Charlotte, N.C., and Jennetta Hudson, also of Charlotte; three sisters-in-law, Delores Mayes, Cynthia Jefferson and Carol Stinson, all of Charlotte; a brother-in-law, Charles Clyburn of Charlotte; four god children, two god grandchildren, two god brothers, 43 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends. A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in United House of Prayer, Portsmouth. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at 668 E. Princess Anne Road one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby Street Chapel, is handling arrangements.
