The Norfolk Virginian Pilot April 2, 1938
Dr. Stark A. Sutton, widely known Norfolk physician and one time city health 
officer died at a local hospital last night at 11:40 o'clock after a short 
illness from pneumonia.
He resided at 729 Raleigh avenue and maintained offices in the National Bank of 
Commerce Building where he had been located for years.
Dr. Sutton was 65 years old last June 30. Born in North Carolina, he had been a 
resident of Norfolk 55 years. His parents were William A. and Anne Peyton 
Outlaw Sutton. Besides his wife, Mrs. Lucille DeM. Hudgins Sutton, he is 
survived by two sons, Stark A. Sutton, Jr., of Atlanta and William T. Sutton, 
of New York City; one sister, Miss Anne P. Sutton, of Norfolk; one grandchild, 
one niece and one nephew. He was a Mason and long had been active in the civic, 
social and business affairs of Norfolk.
The body was taken to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, 
pending funeral arrangements.
