Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, May 4, 1999 
Edward Roman Swan of the 1300 block of W. 39th St. died April 30, 1999, in
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Born in Norfolk, he was retired from Old Dominion University and Norfolk &
Western Railroad. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lambert's Point, and
a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Luvinia
Gaines Swan, and a son, Roman V. Swan.

Survivors include three daughters, Edwina Wilson of Norfolk, Linda Howcott of
Chesapeake and Margaret Mitchell of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at noon Thursday at First Baptist Church, Lambert's Point, by
the Rev. Anthony Paige. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be
from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel.
The family will assemble at the residence at 11 a.m. for the procession. The
remains will be taken to the church at 10 a.m.
