Norfolk Virginian Pilot March 12, 1955

Mrs. Genevieve Maloney Sweeney, 71, wife of Edward Sweeney and daughter of 
Bartholomew and Mrs. Johanna Ryan Maloney died yesterday at noon at a Norfolk 
hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, residing at 1158 Pine Ridge Road at the 
time of her death. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Besides her husband, Edward Sweeney, she is survived by one sister, Miss 
Catherine M. Maloney and a brother, Dan Maloney, all of Norfolk and two nephews.
The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to St. Mary's 
Catholic Church for funeral services Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. 
Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services will be conducted at the funeral apartments 
tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.

SWEENEY, GENEVIEVE MALONEY - At a local hospital, Friday, March 11, 1955, at 12 
o’clock noon, GENEVIEVE MALONEY SWEENEY, wife of Edward Sweeney and daughter of 
the late Bartholomew and Johanna Ryan Maloney, in the 72nd year of her age. 
Remains will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial 
Avenue, to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for services MONDAY MORNING at 10 o’clock. 
Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery.
