NORFOLK - James Michael Sweeney, 45, of the 4000 block of Caliente St., died Aug. 
10, 2005.
James was born in Portsmouth and lived in Norfolk most of his life. He was 
employed at Qualicon Corporation. He was a member St. Pius Catholic Church in 
Norfolk, Knights of Columbus Council No. 367 and Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of 
Carpenters, Local 613. He also was an avid softball player.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas W. Sweeney and Barbara B. Sweeney of 
Norfolk; his daughters, Amanda Nicole Cavey and Chelsea Cooper Cavey; a sister, 
Teresa Sweeney; three brothers, Hubert, Donald and Sean Sweeney; his fiancee, 
Estella Lynn Jones; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 
his sisters, Michelle and Catherine and his brother, Thomas.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic 
Church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A Christian wake will be 
held Thursday at 7 p.m. in Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. In lieu of 
flowers, memorial donations may be made to Knights of Columbus Council 367 
(KOVAR), 5201 Kennebeck Ave., Norfolk. A reception will be held at the Knights of 
Columbus 367 after the burial.
