Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, December 31, 1998 
Benjamin Swift Jr. of the 600 block of Goff St. died Dec. 29, 1998, in Norfolk.

Born in Norfolk, he was a retired longshoreman from ILA No. 1248 and a U.S. Army
veteran. He was a member of United House of Prayer for All People, Church St.,
where he was a member of the Male Usher Board.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Swift; a son, Robert A. Swift Sr. of
Norfolk; four sisters, Virginia L. Swift, Vivian P. Swift and Lillian Holloway,
all of Norfolk, and Shirley Harris of Atlanta, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; and 17
great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at noon Saturday at United House of Prayer for All People
with Apostle W. Scott officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Friends
may join the family at the residence. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
