Mr. Sword, a native of Pikeville, Ky., was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Fannie S. Sword; a daughter, Mary Virginia Sword of Norfolk; a son, Curtis S. Sword Jr. of Solana Beach, Calif.; and three grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. Timothy Drake. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A Christian wake service will begin at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, where the family will remain until 8:30 p.m. to greet friends.
