Cox Sykes, widow of Bascom Sykes, who was civil engineer for the City of Portsmouth for 14 years, a native of Philadelphia and a resident of Norfolk and Portsmouth for 90 years, died yesterday at 7:30 a.m. at the Lydia H. Roper Home, where she had resided for the past 24 years. She is survived by nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tomorrow at 11 a.m. by the Rev. John W. Hobbs, pastor of Memorial Methodist Church, Berkley, of which Mrs. Sykes was a member. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
