A native of Plymouth, N.C., she lived in this area 50 years. She was a member of South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church. She was the widow of Laban N. Sykes and daughter of Charlie C. and Mrs. Harriet Blount Chesson. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mabel K. Turner of Cradock and Mrs. Harriet E. Walker of South Norfolk; a son, Willie S. Kennedy of St. Brides; a sister, Mrs. Neoma C. Patrick of Washington; a brother, Andrew Jackson Chesson of Sorrento, Fla., 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk, by the Rev. O.D. Poythress, pastor emeritus of South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church, and the Rev. Henry L. Foster, of Cradock Baptist Church. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
