The deceased was only 17 years of age, and was the daughter of the late Geo. A. and Marina Sykes, the latter having been buried only three months ago yesterday. Miss Sykes had been in ill health for some time and came home Wednesday from the mountains of Virginia, where she had been to regain her health. She was accompanied home by her sister, Mrs. Carl Colonna and her brother, Willian Sykes. Her condition, however, was much worse than when she left. Yesterday morning she was found dead in her room by her brother, who went in to administer medicine to her. She was a consistent member of Memorial M.E. Church and had a large circle of friends and acquaintances, who will be pained to learn of her death. The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence, and the obsequies will be conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. Asbury Christian, of Memorial Church. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
