Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark November 8, 1920
Mrs. Nannie J. Sykes, aged 51 years, widow of Julius C. Sykes, died yesterday 
afternoon at 3 o'clock at the family residence, 109 Westmoreland street, after a 
lingering illness.
Mrs. Sykes was a native of Edenton, N.C., but had lived in Berkley twenty years.  
Mrs. Sykes is survived by three children, Walter Scott Sykes, Bascom Sykes and 
Ethel Sykes; two brothers, John F. Harris, Memphis, Tenn. and Henry Harris, of 
Norfolk.
The funeral will be conducted at the funeral apartments of J.R. Williams, 208 
Chestnut street, this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and burial will be in the family 
lot in Magnolia Cemetery.
