The Rev. Jerry Walter Sykes, 76, of 1113 Allegheny street, was given a funeral 
service recently at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. R. T. Adams 
officiating.

A Baptist minister and a native of Columbia, NC, Rev. Mr. Sykes was a former 
employee of the Norfolk Navy Yard, a member of Jupiter Odd Fellows lodge and a 
member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He was the widower of Mrs. Della Sykes.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Daisy S. Cross; two stepdaughters, Mrs. 
LaRosa L. Warden and Mrs. Goldie McDaniels; and a grandchild.

Fitchett Funeral Home conducted the burial in Calvary Cemetery.
