Paul B. Sylvia, 75, died April 8, 1999.

He lived in the area for more than 50 years, was a member of St. Pius X Catholic 
Church and served as church sacristan. Mr. Sylvia was a retired U.S. Navy veteran 
and received the Navy Commendation Medal.

He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, ReDella, and is survived by two 
daughters, Faith Ann Pearce of Norfolk and Renae Adele Zayas of Hillsborough, 
Calif.; four grandchildren, Jimmy P. Pearce, Richard and David Zayas, and Buffie 
Gambirazio; and one sister.

The family will receive friends Sunday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach. A 
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Pius X Catholic 
Church with entombment at St. Mary's Cemetery.
