Ocean View Ave., a retired owner of Tadlock Realty and Tadlock Motor Co., died Monday in a hospital. He was a native of Norfolk and the husband of Alice Rees Tadlock. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, the Old Timers Club and Atlantic Masonic Lodge 2. In 1945 he won a trophy while driving a midget racer at Daytona Beach on a mile straightaway, setting a record in the process. He first began racing on ponies at the age of 11 and at age 15 began racing a four-cylinder Essex. Other survivors include three daughters, Anna Lee Edelblute of Chesapeake and Johnnye Lynn Bowmnan and Melina Victoria Mericle, both of Norfolk; a brother, Roy M. Tadlock of Norfolk; six grandchildren; and four great-grandsons. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Allen G. Reifsnyder. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home from 7:30-8:30 p.m. today. Masonic rites will be accorded in the funeral home by Atlantic Masonic Lodge 2.
