He was one of our most useful and public spirited citizens, and in the prosecution of his business as ship-builder, he had enriched our port with several fine specimens of naval architecture. He was an Alderman of the Borough for many years past, and was ever prompt and zealous in the discharge of his duties. His place cannot readily be filled; for to the virtures already accorded to him may be added those of a kind and steadfast friend: No man could be more firmly relied upon in the hours of trial, and his death will be lamented by many, as that of a brother. He has left a wife and two children to mourn the loss of the most affectionate husband and tender parent. May He, in whose hands are the issues of life and death, wipe away the tear of the widow and orphan, and guard and guide them in this the hour of their calamity. His funeral will take place from his residence this afternoon at 4 o'clock, at which his friends are respectfully invited to attend.
