Taliaferro, 66, of 725 Maury Ave., general practitioner in Norfolk for four decades, died Tuesday in a hospital. Dr. Taliaferro, a native of Hampton, was the husband of Mrs. Kathleen Doyle Taliaferro. He lived in Norfolk 40 years. He closed his offices on Graydon Avenue last year because of illness. However, he found time after retirement for limited practice at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Hampton and a the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Norfolk. He was a graduate of the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, and graduated with a medical degree from the University of Virginia Medical School. During World War II he was a major in the 51st Medical Battalion in the Italian and North Africa campaigns, 1941 to 1945. He was on the staff of the Diagnostic Tumor Clinic of De Paul and Leigh Memorial hospitals and was a former president of the staff of Norfolk General Hospital. He was a member of the Norfolk County Medical Society, the National Academy of General Practice and the Raven Society. He also was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Besides his widow, survivors include three daughters, Misses Mary Ann Taliaferro and Nina Taliaferro of Norfolk and Mrs. Martha Taliaferro Thrasher of Cincinnati, Ohio; a son, William L. Taliaferro Jr. of Norfolk; and a sister, Mrs. Isham Trotter Hardy of Hampton. The body was taken to H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. A funeral will be held Thursday at noon in St. Paul's Episcopal Church by the Rev. Walton W. Davis, pastor and the Rev. Thomas Quinlan of St. Mary's Catholic Church. The family, which will be at his home, has asked that flowers be omitted and memorial donations made to the Salvation Army or to a charity of choice. *************************************************************************** TALIAFERRO, M.D., WILLIAM L. - ln a Norfolk hospital, Tuesday, WILLIAM L.TALIAFERRO, M.D., husband of Mrs. Kathleen Doyle Taliaferro, and son of the late William Churchhill Lyons and Mrs. Mabel Simkins Sclater Taliaferro, in the 66th year of his age. A funeral service will be held in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Thursday at 12 Noon. Burial, St. Mary’s Cemetery. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, has charge. The family will be at 725 Maury Avenue, Norfolk and they have asked that flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made to Salvation Army or Charity of Choice.
