Taliaferro The sad death of Mrs. Frances Johnston Taliaferro, wife of the late Major Warner T. Taliaferro and daughter of the late William J. Hardy, was announced yesterday morning and caused a pang of grief to enter the hearts of her large circles of friends in this city. Mrs. Taliaferro had been suffering from a serious illness for many days and her death was not unexpected. She was a native of this city, a lady of the highest attainments, took a prominent part in all church affairs, and was, up to the time of her illness, organist of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, in which position she made the music of the church a special object during the latter portion of her life. She was one of the original members of the famous St. Cecilia Society, and her efforts in its behalf, when it was in infancy, did much to elevate the organization to the standard to which it has attained. The deceased lady leaves three children, who will deeply feel and mourn her loss. To the family of the deceased THE VIRGINIAN extends its most heartfelt sympathy. The funeral services which will take place from St. Luke's Episcopal Church this afternoon at 6 o'clock will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Lloyd, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Dr. O.S. Barten, pastor of Christ Episcopal Church, and Rev. B.D. Tucker, pastor of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. ************************************************************************ The funeral of the late Mrs. Frances Johnston Taliaferro, whose sad death was previously announced in these columns, took place from St. Luke's Episcopal Church Sunday afternoon and was attended by a large number of relatives, friends and acquaintances of the deceased lady.
