NORFOLK - Blanche Larnell Talley was born in Norfolk on February 22, 1917 to the 
late James Lonnie and Martha Jordan Hassell. She went to be with the Lord 
February 28, 2010.

She graduated from Saint Joseph Catholic High School in Norfolk and attended St. 
Elizabeth Nursing School in Baltimore, Md. Blanche was very active in the 
Greenhill Farms Civic League and Garden Club and actively participated in many 
political affairs in the community.

Blanche leaves to cherish two devoted sons, Jimmie Lee Gordon (Thelma) and 
Cornell K. Gordon (Alfreda) of Chesapeake. She is also survived by two sisters 
and two brothers, Lonnie M. Coston of Norfolk, Delores Hines of Portsmouth, 
Milton Hassell (Nancy) of Dallas, Texas and Paul Eugene Hassell of Virginia 
Beach. She will be missed by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 
great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday, March 6, at noon at the 
Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Norfolk. Following Mass, 
burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Norfolk. Viewing will be Friday from 2 to 
8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 
Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Riddick Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
