Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, December 15, 1994 
James Edward Talley, 88, of the 6400 block of Avon Road, a retired merchant
seaman, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 1994, in Lake Taylor Hospital.

Mr. Talley was a native of Norfolk and the son of John H. and Emma Talley. He
was retired from the National Maritime Union and was an Army veteran of World
War II.

He is survived by a devoted wife, Blanche L. Talley of the home; two daughters,
Jessie Mae Talley of Norfolk and Audrey T. Davis of Maryland; a son, James L.
Talley; two stepsons, Jimmie Lee Gordon and Cornell K. Gordon; 15 grandchildren;
and 29 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday at Riddick Funeral Service by the
Rev. M.L. Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be from 2
to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will be at 7493 Hughart St. The
procession will leave from Mr. Talley's residence, 6401 Avon Road.
