Virginian Pilot June 20, 1906

Mrs. Mary N. Tatem, widow of the late G.W. Tatem, died yesterday morning in the 
home of her daughter, Mrs. A.J. Massey, in Pendleton street, at 10:30 o'clock 
after an illness of three weeks.
Mrs. Tatem was one of the oldest residents of the ward.  She was 70 years old.  
The deceased was born in Lewisburg, NC. and was a daughter of the late George 
and Mrs. Delaney Bridges.  
She is survived by three children-- Mrs. A.J. Massey and Messrs. W.H. and G.N. 
Tatem--all of whom live here.
The funeral will take place in Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, of which the 
deceased was a consistent member, at 5 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.  Rev. W.a. 
Smith, the pastor, will officiate.

The funeral of the late Mrs. Mary N. Tatem, who died at the home of her 
daughter, Mrs. A.J. Massey, will be conducted at the Berkley Avenue Baptist 
Church this afternoon at 4 o'clock.
Rev. W.A. Smith, pastor of the church, will officiate and the interment will be 
in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Tatem was one of the best educated women in the ward and taught music in 
the Baptist College for Young Ladies at Murfreesboro, N.C. during her early 
life.  She also taught music on various instruments in this vicinity, where she 
was regarded as foremost in her profession.
